TRANSEMPOWERMENT
En Abril 2007 LCOA la Comisión Latina en VIH NY realizó La Reunión Latina en Albany, NY con la participación de alrededor de 15 personas Trans MTF.
En la plenaria realizada a micrófono abierto se escucharon las inquietudes, necesidades y quejas de la comunidad Trans con referencia a las Agencias que tienen programas ,servicios y grupos Trans y NO tienen resultados positivos para nuestra Comunidad.
Fue tan alarmante la necesidad de nuevas y creativas perpectivas para alertar a las personas Trans y desarrollar programas hechos especificamentes para Trans.
En una de las habitaciones del hotel nos reunimos 10 de las Activistas Trans participantes, Líderes Comunitarias y Proveedoras de Salud Analizamos la situation y decidimos hacer un Esfuerzo mayor en Pro de la Comunidad. Natalie J. Isaac, María Belén Correa tomaron la iniciativa de fundar Trans Empowerment en NYjunto a tolas las lideresTrans, como respuesta a esta necesidad.
Con nuestra participación en la plenaria algunas agencias se nos acercaron para apoyar nuestro esfuerzo y vale decir que LESHRC agencia nos ofreció la oportunidad de comenzar grupos de apoyo Trans en sus Instalaciones en el bajo Manhathan.
A partir de la primera reunión (Focus Groups) y hasta la fecha en nuestro primer aniversario TransEmpowerment ha realizado Grupos semanales, Aboga por servicios de Salud Mental, Recaudaciones de Fondos, Entrenamientos y Capacitacion a nuevas Lideres Arte Trans y mucho Fortalecimiento a nuestra Comunidad.
Queremos felicitar a todo/as las personas que han hecho possible que hoy TransEmpowerment sea una realidad.

TRANSEMPOWERMENT
In April 2007 LCOA the Latino Commission on AIDS NY. The Reunion Latina conducted in Albany, NY with the participation of about 15 Trans peoples MTF. At the plenary held in open microphone we heard the concerns, needs and complaints from the Transgender community referring to the agencies that have programs, services and Trans groups and NOT have positive results for our Community.
It was so alarming the need for new and creative outlooks to alert Transgender and develop programs tailored for us. In one of the hotel rooms, we met, 10 of the Trans participants, community leaders and health care providers analyzed the situation and decide to make a greater effort in Pro of the Commonwealth. Natalie J. Isaac and María Belén Correa took the initiative to establish Trans Empowerment in NY along with the other Trans Community Liders, in response to this need.
With our participation in the plenary some agencies approached us to support our effort and the LOWER EAST SIDE HARM REDUCTION CENTER (LESHRC ) agency gave us a chance to start support groups in its facilities in the Lower Manhathan.
From the first meeting (Focus Groups) and so far in our first anniversary Trans Empowerment has conducted weekly group, Advocates for Mental Health services, fundraising, coaches Training Leadership, ArtTrans and much more ,Strengthening our Community.
We wants to congratulate all those who have made possible today TransEmpowerment becomes a reality.
